Kay Nielsen

Kay Nielsen (1886–1957) was a Danish illustrator who was one of the greats of the Edwardian gift book craze during the "Golden Age of Illustration" who formed a triumvirate with Arthur Rackham and Edmund Dulac. Nielsen influenced generations of artists and was the visual inspiration for J.R.R. Tolkien after the art opening for Nielsen's 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' in 1914.
