Manual of Classical Erotology

Illustrations by the great erotic artist Paul Avril from the Very Rare ‘Manual of Classical Erotology’ or ‘De Figuris Veneris’ (On the figures of Venus) which was first published by the German philosopher and classicist Friedrich Karl Forberg in 1824 in Latin and Greek. It was an anthology of ancient Greek and ancient Roman writings on erotic topics, discussed objectively and classified and grouped by subject matter.

Published in Paris by Charles Hirsch in 1907 in a total edition of 500, with present illustrations from one of the 250 printed in English.
